Message-ID:

Summary: xfce4-mpd-plugin does not work well with large
vertical panels
Classification: Panel Plugins
Product: Xfce4-xmms-plugin
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: Medium
Component: General

giant buttons!
Screenshot says it all. When placed in a vertical panel, each button has a row
to itself, occupying the entire width of the panel, and then scaling the height
to match. It would make much more sense to put all of the buttons in one row.
(I don't see a place to file bugs for this particular plugin? O.o bug #2962 is
assigned to Xfce4-xmms-plugin, so I'm going by that.)

Yes, there is no bugzilla component for this plugin.
This is not a bug, it's a feature request, which i probably won't implement.
Did you think about the people that were using non-wide vertical panels ? Try
setting the width to < 30px, and tell me how to you fit 4 buttons in a row..
Scaling of buttons is done using the panel size, no matter what is the
orientation.
I would consider patches implementing it in a sane way though, like selecting
orientation in the configuration dialog, regardless of panel orientation, and
depending of having a wide enough panel.

quicklauncher plugin has a property called 'lines' in it's settings dialog,
which serves the purpose you mentioned. may be the code for the buttons
can be lifted from quicklauncher to the mpd plugin.
or ultimately, make a common xfce control for mutli-item clickable buttons
which can be simply used in plugins or anywhere else:P

Or use quicklauncher plugin, make 4 launchers and bind them to mpc
prev/mpc stop/mpc toggle/mpc next.

Hi
I have filed this bug per your suggestions. You may track it if you wish.
No need to reply, but I will respond if a reply to me is sent.
It is my sincere hope that even though Jannis Polloman blogged that XFCE is just a hobby, the plugin will be fixed. ! With 4.8 coming up in April, I hope a new v. will be written. Although I can see this is low on the priority list right now. Which is cool.
Off topic question, if you don't mind; would you consider a user paying a developer to help you out ?
Thanks !
Steve

Thank you for the patch. The problem is a bit worse than that, as realloc,
malloc and free are missmatched between their plain variant and their g_*
variant. Rather than including stdlib.h, properly using the g_* variant
everywhere is a cleaner solution.

The problem, rather than the missing include, is the use of the plain form or
malloc, realloc, calloc and free, rather their g_* variants.

Subject: [Goodies-dev] Clipman: Regex substitution?
Message-ID: <4B7FF043.1050909@webrahmen.ch>
hello everybody (hope this is the right place. If not, please forgive me)
I believe there is no way to do regex substitution directly in Clipman
actions, right? If there isn't: Think about introducing it. It would be
great.
What I'd like to do:
pattern: SR\s([\.\d]+)
e.g.: "SR 101" or "SR 412.101.220.07" - these numbers always have
dots (.)
action: exo-open exo-open http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c\1.html
BUT dots should be replaced by underscores (_):
"SR 101" works, it sends you to http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c101.html
however,
"SR 412.101.220.07" does not work, as it should go to
http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c412_101_220_07.html
Of course I could write a short script (e.g. in perl) that does the
trick and use that script instead of exo-open. But that's a bit geeky :-)
What do you think about this?
Have a good weekend!
Christoph
P.S. never forget: Clipman actions are great!

Message-ID: <4B858AFC.8000002@mamul.org>
Hello,
In the past few months, due to both personal and professional
reasons, I've completely abandoned the project and it seems
like it'll stay this way in future.
I'll be following the development and will continue using the
Xfce desktop, but as of now I can no devote the amount of time
that the project needs.
So, I'm giving the project up for adoption and I hope there will
be at least one volunteer. If anyone comes up - don't hesitate
to contact me for any information concerning the project.
I'd like to say that it's been both fun and a challenge to work
on this project. Both developers and users with whom I've been
in contact with during the last few years were nice and helpful.
P.S.: The code quality (IMHO) is rather poor here and there -
sorry about that. :-\
Best regards,

Subject: [Goodies-dev] [Bug 6257] New: cpugraph plugin has no border

Summary: cpugraph plugin has no border
Classification: Panel Plugins
Product: Xfce4-cpugraph-plugin
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC (x86)
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: General
AssignedTo: goodies-dev at xfce.org
ReportedBy: xfcebugzilla1 at uninformativ.de

Set border on "ebox" instead of "frame".
The cpugraph plugin has no border. Other plugins such as "network monitor" or
"disk performance monitor" do have one. I'll attach a screenshot later on.
I think that the cpugraph plugin is supposed to have a border, too. In fact, it
indeed had one in the past: An old build from 2007-12-04 works corretly.
However, if you compile it nowadays the border is missing.
I attached a patch which should fix this problem. But to be honest, I don't
know why it worked in the past -- the variable "frame" isn't initialized at
this point.
Build Date & Platform: 2010-02-26, xfce4-cpugraph-plugin-0.4.0, current Arch
Linux i686
Let me know if you need any further information.
