Message-ID: <4933C0B3.7050200@ip-minds.de> Hello, there are some modules within moonbase which depend on %X though this is completly wrong. In fact most of them doesn't require the X Server installed as you could also use them with X11 Forwarding (no need for an x server if you forward it to another existing x server). As i'm not sure about why those "depends" exist i wanted to ask here whether we/me can change this behavior. At the moment i'm using X11 forwarding and i had to comment the depends on %X in several modules, means automatically having them within zlocal. This can't be the real solution. I guess those depends was made for the dependecy tracking to ease the install of an x11 system, though not sure. So.. any ideas/hints/infos? I had troubles with Polish keyboard layout. Changes in xorg.conf are required. Will post required changes when I go back home from work. Reply will be in less than 12 hours. AFAIR Input devices should be defined in xorg.conf with evdev driver this way they overwrite what xorg autodetects (by pointing to the device file path you want to takeover plus xkblayout you need). Another option needed in other section is to not allow xorg to be executed without working input devices. have a nice day, Zbigniew Luszpinski From samuel.verstraete at gmail.com Tue Dec 9 13:14:46 2008 From: samuel.verstraete at gmail.com (samuel) Date: Tue, 9 Dec 2008 13:14:46 +0100 Subject: [Lunar-commits] XOrg7: keyboard and mouse driversremoved from dependency In-Reply-To: <1292299a.6ff546f9.493e2e0d.b16b9@o2.pl> References: <20081202144546.5D9649B1C7@doppio.foo-projects.org> <493D9A71.9010302@lunar-linux.org> <1292299a.6ff546f9.493e2e0d.b16b9@o2.pl> Message-ID: it's not like i invented this... or use the tools provided by x to set the correct layout or use the tools provided by your desktop environment... for linux the preferred layout is: xorg + hal + evdev... if you do not like this... remove evdev and install the old and deprecated xf86-input-keyboard and xf86-input-mouse.. you also need one line in your xorg.conf that tells it to ignore hal events... pretty sure that is in man xorg.conf On Tue, Dec 9, 2008 at 9:36 AM, zbiggy wrote: > > > > Dnia 8 grudnia 2008 23:06 Jens Luedicke napisa?(a): > >> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- >> Hash: SHA1 >> >> Samuel wrote: >> >> > depends xinit >> > depends xkeyboard-config >> > # DEPENDS: libxkbui >> > -depends xf86-input-keyboard >> > -depends xf86-input-mouse >> > +depends xf86-input-evdev >> >> This change broke my keyboard layout.
