Yes I can, while I don't know whether this makes any sense.<br>Once I "fixed the problem" with KMix, I had no need to run it again and xfce4-mixer is not showing any<br>thing different than the last setup I did.<br>

when you use kmix, and for when you use xfce4-mixer?<br>
That way you can know exactly which sound setting is getting disabled<br>
to trace the problem.<br>
