They both works the sqme, xdmcp is standardized.<br><br>I don't know why your xfce is different. The only thing I see is on the computer, there are different instalation and different rights.<br><br>Maybe I'm wrong ;)<br>

J'ai des machines configurées en serveur d'application, disons A, B, C,<br>
D, E (Pentium IV) et des petites machines configurées en TX, disons<br>
a,b,c,d,ef,etc.<br>

Le home est exporté par nfs depuis un serveur, disons X.<br>
<br>
Pour travailler, un utilisateur s'assied devant un pc, puis choisit l'un<br>
des serveurs d'applications proposés à l'écran (c'est la liste affichée<br>
par le chooser xdmcp) ; si tous les serveurs d'appli sont allumés, alors<br>
il voit les 5 dans la liste.<br>
Puis l'utilisateur se logge sur son compte personnel.<br>
Comme le /home est exporté depuis X, quel que soit le serveur d'appli<br>
choisi par l'utilisateur, il peut se logger sous son nom de login et<br>
retrouver tout son environnement.<br>

Les TX et les serveurs d'appli sont dans les classes (tout ceci se passe<br>
dans une école), donc l'utilisateur peut travailler sur ordi aussi bien<br>
s'il s'assied devant un TX que s'il s'assied devant un serveur d'appli.<br>
<br>
Et c'est là qu'est le problème : si l'utilisateur "toto" s'assied devant<br>
un TX puis choisit un serveur d'appli et se logge, alors il a un fond<br>
d'écran en spirale et des icones.<br>
Mais s'il s'assied devant un serveur d'appli et choisit cette machine<br>
comme serveur d'appli, alors il a le fond d'écran avec la souris, n'a<br>
plus d'icone et ne peut pas accéder à l'item "configuration" du menu xfce.<br>

Avec KDE, tout marchait très bien.<br>

front of a tx pc or in front of A, B, ... And it must work the same way<br>
for him.<br>
And it worked the same way, perfectly, with KDE.<br>

But now, with xfce :<br>
* if the pupil sits down in front of a tx, (then chooses an application<br>
server, then logs in) he gets a debian spiral as backgrond, desktop icons.<br>
* if he sits down in front of an application server and chooses this<br>
machine as application server, then his background is the xfce mouse, he<br>
gets no icon on his desktop and cannot launch the "xfce configure" item.<br>
